Calling out domainnamesystems.com / cheapies.com

Terrible Transfer.

Ever tried to transfer your domains away from them? It’s a pain in the ass!

They allow 3 whois queries per IP to their whois. Obviously, a big registrar like enom will be blocked in no time and you can’t get your domains transferred to them.

You tell the owner about the problem and he expects you to organise enom’s whitelisting for them. On top of that, they threaten a lawsuit if you take this matter to the boards or blogs.

After 3 weeks, I had enough. They need to organize an enom whitelisting so I can get my domains out of there.

Namecheap.

They have a nice money-making scam going.

If you use Paypal, they require certain minimums to transfer into your account before making a purchase. The trick is you have to precisely transfer the correct amount for an order to go through, if you don’t want money left in the account.

It might seem like a good idea to put a little extra money from PayPal into your account, if you do a lot of domain buying. The problem is if you don’t touch the money for a while, you are basically giving these guys an interest-free loan.

Once I added more money than necessary to complete an order. Now, with their transfer minimums, there is almost no way to get the money back unless you buy more than you want. So, they got you again.

So, you are giving them an interest-free loan and you must buy more than necessary to get your money back. Heads they win, tails you lose.

Currently, there is $3 and change in my account. Multiply that across 10,000 accounts and you have $30,000 they get for free!

There is no such thing as the perfect registrar!
