Quality blog tips

Nothing trumps quality. Being first, while helpful, is not as powerful as being third with greater quality.

For many webmasters, there are a couple of mindsets:

1) Be first
2) Copy first

In both cases, their is the element of originality. Yet, it is desecrated in one of two ways:

either, the quality was low and greater quality beat it; or,

a series of copies are spawned limiting the potential audience.

The point of this is if people would think in terms of quality, rather than originality (or copying), it would likely yield better results. Plus, those results would inherently be protected.

-) Don’t get caught up in making money. Your first goal should be to sell your own opinion and build your brand. People should want their product on your blog. That “want” is becomes an outlet for “revenue” from your work. You must love what you do before expecting to earn a dime.

-) Create multiple voices. When I say voices, create other types of content potential which is consistent with your general work habits.

If you are blog about musical bands, you are probably doing reviews. Add a second voice which tells people the favorite drinks of bandmenders. You will need a separate icon for this.

-) Don’t pay attention to search engines. Remember, quality is key. Your greatest and most productive traffic comes from word of mouth and bookmarkers.

-) Encourage people to bookmark and encourage comments. Maybe, consider creating a new name for comments. The term “comment” is overused. If you review bands, change it to “shout outs!” or whatever you think fits.
Be sure to comment with an opinion (controversial works wonders)!

-) Target a limited audience but use content with wider appeal.

If you review bands at The Blue Note:

Blue Note = narrow but workable audience.
Bands = content with greater potential
