Get Into the Domain Name game

There’s no limit to the domain name game so just because someone got a nice domain doesn’t mean you can’t get yours. The only limit is your IMAGINATION.

Background: Normally, people identify websites through the DOMAIN NAME. (e.g. google.com , yahoo.com, ebay.com). There are many who invest strictly in domain names. These are called domainers. Here’s some background on them: http://money.cnn.com/magazines/busin…4591/index.htm

Domainers buy a domain with TRAFFIC, which means there is money-making potential. There are 3 ways to do this.

1) Buying an expired domain which had traffic. Buy a lots of these and either resell them or make money using Pay Per click programs. One story showed someone made over a HUNDRED MILLION BUCKS doing this.

2) Buy TYPOS. Let’s say a hot new pornsite opens and gets MILLIONS of hits. It gets branded heavily. A domainer buys the typo variations and makes money sending traffic TO the same site (as an affiliate). They get paid for sending the traffic back to the origianl website (or, the sponsor)! The sponsor does all the work of branding and the domainer collects the earnings on the lost traffic. How great is that?

3) Buy domains based on traffic trends. Using sophisticated tools and databases, they predict new trends in traffic and buy type in domains for those. Example: Nike is releasing a new product using regular words as its name. Let’s say “new shoe” by nike.

The domainer buys newshoe.com or nushoo.com or newshoo.com and other variations. Nike can’t is helpless since that name comprises COMMON words.

What if Nike uses nikeaza or something weird like that? If you try to get the domain, you might get your ass handed to you. But, other than this case, this is an effective technique used to buy domains.

To get you started, think of a distinctive name involving a product  or hobby you like. Example: Movie333 or something like that. It needs to be distinctive and easy to remember. Here’s how you make money off that domain…

1) The name needs to be SHORT but easy to remember using a combo of words or words and numbers.

e.g. Reyreyvids, liltang23

Register it at godaddy or Dotster or some other cheap domain registrar. It’s usually around $9 a year. Register it for 10 years. Less than $100 for your domain.

Just a note, I STRONGLY RECOMMEND you find a registrar with privacy registration.

2) Park it on SEDO.com so you get paid for straggler traffic. Remember to get a traffic history for your domain.

3) Promote the domain. Put it on your myspace page, friendster, personal profile pics with the domain, anything.

MARKET THE HELL out of it. Put it in your email signature line. If someone forwards chain emails to you, put it in there and pass it back to the sender. Use it as your forum signature. Just get it out there.

Key point here: Don’t worry about knowing how to build websites. The key is having your domain associated with whatever you do online. The more you use the net, the more your domain gets promoted. Make it a habit.

4) Keep doing this and hang on to the domain. Watch your traffic at sedo or wherever you parked it. Once you get enough traffic, you can put it up for auction at sedo and other sites like it or ebay.

This doesn’t take that much effort. The key is to do this as a HABIT. It is like real estate…price only goes up with time and increased exposure. LITTLE TO NO SKILLS INVOLVED.

If you like what you’ve read, go out there and get started TODAY!!! Action  is rewarded.
